Chakra Goddesses: Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with the First Step

The Chakra Goddesses showcased at O5 Tea Bar in November 2015 was one of my proudest moments in my life. This was my first solo show. Nothing like a good deadline and accountability to complete an art series finishing the last painting on the very first day of the show. Whew! As with any art show, nervousness is expected as an artist can never know how it will be received by the viewers. Art as they say is very subjective and this was a personal extension of who I am. Never realized such a show is like planning and organizing a wedding with so many details that must be considered and...

Chakra Goddesses: The Whisper that Started it All

. How do you come up with ideas? What’s your inspiration? Nature? Food? Books? Music? A challenge most artists face when completing a series is wondering what to paint next? When I am complete and see no need to explore further I start the creative process all over again…staring at a blank white canvas.   Years ago when I was in Graphic design school, my color theory teacher had told the class of his experience working with one of the leading graphic designers in the city. The prominent designer has won awards for his amazing designs. One day, this designer was stuck. After designing...

Celebrating a Milestone with Social Shopper!

Being in business in today’s economy can be tough and filled with challenges but when one has reached a milestone it is a reason to celebrate. Social Shopper, a local Vancouver online deal shopping website decided to celebrate their four years in business in style… good old 1920’s fashion on the Princess Harbour boat.   Local businesses and their guests were all invited to dress as part of the celebration. Women as flapper girls dressed in glamorous fringe dresses, pearl necklaces, feather boas and sequined head pieces while the gentlemen all decked out in their suits and shiny black and...

– by Divinity Chan | www.DivinityChan.com ©2013 Artists will take part in the three hours of creative madness, turning plain garbage cans, provided by the event sponsor, Granville Island Ferries, into works of art In the past, the artworks had been created out of large metal garbage cans. In recent years, we provided something that would be more suitable for today’s smaller urban homes. The organizers chose a smaller garbage can (picture below). The artists provide their time, their art supplies and their great ideas! Granville Island Ferries supplies the artists with the cans,...

A Winning Combination of Art, Passion and Love at the Make It Handmade Revolution

I love supporting local art and crafts shows. It’s a great opportunity to see what new but also be inspired by Canadian artisans, designers and crafters. And who doesn’t like to buy cool stuff too? the Make It Handmade Revolution show (http://makeitproductions.com) exhibits a wide range of art ranging anywhere from jewellery, home decor, clothing to edible food. This show is very eclectic and I love the variety the show offers. The artisans, designers and crafters are very friendly and love talking to visitors to their booth. I have not see the music performances but i am sure they are...
