The Chakra Goddesses showcased at O5 Tea Bar in November 2015 was one of my proudest moments in my life. This was my first solo show. Nothing like a good deadline and accountability to complete an art series finishing the last painting on the very first day of the show. Whew! As with any art show, nervousness is expected as an artist can never know how it will be received by the viewers. Art as they say is very subjective and this was a personal extension of who I am. Never realized such a show is like planning and organizing a wedding with so many details that must be considered and taken care of – marketing, venue, invitations etc…

Over 100 people were invited to attend this three day weekend show and many who have come out enjoyed the art (some, saw my art for the first time) and their visit to one of Kitsilano’s favorite hot spots tasting imported and rare teas for the first time. O5 Tea Bar is unique in it’s kind in Vancouver as it focuses on organic and home grown teas bought directly from the farmers. The owner flies overseas to visit tea farmers in Asia and Japan and brings back unique teas no other shop has available in the city.

The tea bar was the perfect venue! Simplicity of the dark decor worked perfectly to support the bold colors and the spiritual energy of the goddesses that hung beautifully on the large wall behind the bar. People admired them while enjoying their moments with their teas.

Inquiries from show visitors led to great conversations. Each intrigued by the stories behind the creation of each goddesses – the creative process, concept and the color vibrancy. If you like to read all about the processes that went behind the work click the link to read and view the work in progress pictures. Greeting cards were available as mementos of the show as each guest purchased their favourite ones they resonated with. Few who were unfamiliar with the idea of chakras had their first education to the amazing power centres in the body. To purchase cards and prints go to www.divinitychan.com/shop

The three day show ended on a sweet and bitter note with whiskey and chocolate tasting event hosted by Moonshine Tastings and Riadh the chocolatier from Bumble and Oak.

Thank you to all the staff at the tea bar for their support and the owner for allowing me to use their venue to showcase my work as they do no normally do this. It has been a great experience for everyone who attended. If you are in the neighbourhood, be sure to visit O5 Tea Bar for your unique tea experience. A great place of reflection and conversations.
