‘In a marshland amongst the crocodiles, there float beautiful water lilies! Even in the Hell, one can find the good and the beauty.’ – Mehmet Murat Ildan Finished piece in watercolor paint. A perfect reminder how beauty grows in the mud and muck. We are in the mud but there’s always beauty and even a silver lining. Water lilies are known as symbols of rebirth and second chances. My silver lining is having this time of rest and recover. As much as I enjoy teaching it have taken a toll on my body and it’s been screaming for rest. This...

It’s flower week at the watercolor classes. Felt inspired by the simplicity and beauty of the lily symbolizing purity. Students were happy to attempt at doing this than the lemon.🤷🏻‍♀️ For the lesson we played with masking fluid for the flower (although technically not necessary), wet on wet for the background and wet on dry for most of the details. Working with shadow and light and learning to know when to use a lot of paint and when to pull back. Next week is the last session and is open studio! Students are to bring a picture they want to...

You know when your students are comfortable with you when they ‘groan’😣loudly after you show them the next lesson. 🤷🏻‍♀️ what? I figure lemon slice and segments would be a fun challenge to do. Right? Lol Mixture of wet on dry (lemon segments) and wet on wet (whole lemon🍋) techniques at play. As they say when life give you lemons make lemonade…. although instead of lemonade i’d rather make limoncello. 🥂Yes? . . . . . . #divinitychan #divinityart #vancouverartist #vancouverartclass #artclassesvancouver #lemonart #watercolorlemon...

One of my students work of a fun & challenging watercolor lesson I taught last night playing with various techniques at Douglas community center. She was worried how this will turn out but she rocked it don’t ya think? We played with taping creating this triangle shape a new experience than just using the whole page to paint on. For the background they got to pick a color to do wet on wet creating a gradient with the lightest on top. playing with color values for the trees painting wet on dry then wet brush stroke allowing the trees to...

What an amazing year 2017!

What an amazing year 2017. Looking back… if I was to use one word to describe it, it would be Courage.Courage to face my fears, courage to look into and be in the darkness that very few would venture into (and can I blame them? I’d rather party in the light than hang out in the darkness), courage to even face the light and courage to be the beacon for it – for not only for self but for others too. Looking back at my experience with #PaintNite I’ve gained a few good lessons here and there but the most important one even...
